Where to report freight fraud
- FMCSA National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB): complaints about carriers and brokers, including unauthorized brokering and identity theft of a USDOT/MC number.
- FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3): online fraud such as phishing for load-board or email credentials, or payment diverted by fake emails.
- Local law enforcement: for stolen cargo, file a police report where the theft happened; your insurer will usually need it.
- Your bank and factoring company: right away if payment details were changed fraudulently.
Keep the rate confirmation, emails with full headers, call logs and the carrier record you checked. CarrierVet's dated lookup receipts can help show what the record said when you booked.
