Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-26.1 · Effective October 26, 2026

1. Parties and Acceptance

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") constitute a binding agreement between CarrierVet LLC, a New York limited liability company (the "Operator," "we," "us," or "our") and the individual or entity that creates an account, uses an API key, or receives alerts, webhooks, or exports through the CarrierVet website and application programming interface located at carriervet.dev (collectively, the "Service") ("Customer" or "you"). If you accept these Terms on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have authority to bind that organization. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

2. Description of the Service

2.1 The Service compiles and normalizes records published by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ("FMCSA") and the U.S. Department of Transportation ("USDOT") and derives from them certain indicators, including recent contact-information changes, contact details shared among carriers, and a numerical risk score with associated reasons (collectively, "Output").

2.2 Output is provided for informational purposes only. Output does not constitute a verification of identity, a certification, or a representation that any carrier is legitimate, safe, insured, or authorized to transport any shipment. The presence or absence of any flag or score does not indicate that any carrier has engaged in wrongdoing.

2.3 The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by FMCSA or USDOT. Output is not an FMCSA safety rating and is not a "consumer report" as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. ("FCRA").

3. Data Sources and Customer Responsibility

3.1 Output is derived from third-party public sources that may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. The Operator refreshes stored records periodically, and certain fields may be unavailable at any given time.

3.2 Customer is solely responsible for all carrier selection, onboarding, tendering, payment, and factoring decisions, and for independently verifying each carrier's identity, operating authority, contact information, and insurance coverage, including by confirming insurance directly with the insurer.

4. Acceptable Use

Customer shall not: (a) use the Service or any Output to evaluate any natural person for credit, insurance, employment, housing, or any other purpose governed by the FCRA or similar laws; (b) use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or publish or communicate any statement that a carrier is fraudulent based solely on Output; (c) resell, sublicense, or redistribute Output as a standalone data product, provided that Customer may use Output within its own products or workflows within its plan limits; (d) share API keys outside Customer's organization; (e) circumvent any quota, rate limit, or security measure; or (f) scrape the Service. The Operator may suspend or terminate access for any violation of this Section.

5. Accounts and Credentials

Customer shall maintain the confidentiality of its passwords and API keys and is responsible for all activity conducted under them. Customer shall notify the Operator promptly at hello@carriervet.dev upon becoming aware of any unauthorized use or exposure of its credentials.

6. Fees, Billing, and Cancellation

6.1 The Free plan is provided without charge and may be modified or discontinued at any time.

6.2 Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis through Stripe, Inc., at the price in effect at the time of subscription, plus applicable taxes. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.

6.3 Customer may cancel or change its subscription through the billing portal. Upon cancellation, the paid plan remains in effect through the end of the then-current billing period.

6.4 Except as required by applicable law, all fees are non-refundable and partial periods are not prorated. Billing errors must be reported to hello@carriervet.dev within thirty (30) days of the charge.

6.5 Promotional pricing applies only as stated in the applicable offer. The Operator may change prices for subsequent billing periods upon at least thirty (30) days' prior notice by email.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE AND ALL OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, TIMELINESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. THE OPERATOR DOES NOT WARRANT THAT ANY CARRIER IS LEGITIMATE, SAFE, INSURED, OR WILL PERFORM, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL DETECT FRAUD, DOUBLE BROKERING, IDENTITY THEFT, OR CARGO THEFT.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW: (A) IN NO EVENT SHALL THE OPERATOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF CARGO, PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA, FREIGHT CLAIMS, CHARGEBACKS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES; AND (B) THE OPERATOR'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR OTHERWISE, SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (I) THE FEES ACTUALLY PAID BY CUSTOMER TO THE OPERATOR DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (II) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100). THE FOREGOING LIMITATIONS REFLECT AN ALLOCATION OF RISK BETWEEN THE PARTIES AND FORM AN ESSENTIAL BASIS OF THE BARGAIN.

9. Indemnification

Customer shall defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Operator from and against any third-party claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) Customer's use of the Service or Output; (b) Customer's carrier selection, tendering, payment, or other business decisions; (c) Customer's breach of these Terms; or (d) Customer's violation of applicable law.

10. Suspension and Termination

Customer may terminate its use of the Service at any time. The Operator may suspend or terminate Customer's access, or modify or discontinue the Service, with or without notice where reasonable. Sections 2, 3, 4, and 7 through 13 shall survive any termination of these Terms.

11. Modifications

The Operator may amend these Terms from time to time. Amended Terms will bear a revised version number and effective date. The Operator will provide paying Customers at least fourteen (14) days' notice by email of any material amendment. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.

12. General Provisions

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between the parties regarding the Service and supersede all prior understandings. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. No failure or delay in enforcing any provision shall constitute a waiver. Customer may not assign these Terms without the Operator's prior written consent; the Operator may assign these Terms to any successor to all or part of its business. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

13. Notices

Notices to the Operator shall be sent to hello@carriervet.dev. Mailing address: CarrierVet LLC, c/o Northwest Registered Agent LLC, 418 Broadway, Ste N, Albany, NY 12207. Carriers seeking review of a record or indicator may submit a correction request.
